LA ART SHOW

A FEATURED EXHIBITION OF THE LA ART SHOW IN 2023 / LOS ANGELES, CA

Launch Intention was selected as the featured exhibition at the LA Art Show in 2023, one of the largest international contemporary art fairs in the United States. Installed at the main entrance of the Los Angeles Convention Center, a 25-foot stainless steel paper airplane became the first impression for arriving guests—positioned as both landmark and invitation. Alongside the sculpture, a clear introduction to the project and two large-scale scrolls extended the experience, offering a simple but direct prompt: pause, reflect, and write your intention before entering the fair.

Over the course of the weekend, thousands of visitors contributed—filling the scrolls with personal reflections, goals, and declarations. What began as a quiet moment at the threshold evolved into a continuous, collective exchange. In addition to the open participation, youth programming was woven into the space, activating the installation through guided engagement while maintaining its accessibility to all. The result was a living record of shared intention—an interactive layer that stood in contrast to the traditional fair format, shifting the entry experience from passive arrival to active participation.

Artist Note

I remember the scrolls filling up faster than expected.
At first, people hesitated—then one person would write, and suddenly it opened everything up.

There’s something about giving people permission in a space where they don’t expect it.
Art fairs can feel structured, even transactional. This created a different kind of entry point—one that was personal.

By the end of the weekend, it wasn’t just an installation anymore.
It felt like a shared document of where people were at—collectively, in that moment.

CREDITS & THANK YOU'S

Thank you to the community, collaborators, and supporters who made this installation possible. Each contribution—whether through time, resources, or belief—helped transform an idea into something tangible and shared. This sculpture represents more than a single vision; it reflects a collective intention launched together. May it serve as a space to gather, reflect, and imagine what’s possible when ideas are given the opportunity to take flight.
