Marina Green | San Francisco, CA
Launch Intention is touching down at San Francisco’s Marina Green Triangle, on a shoreline that once sent some of America’s earliest pilots and air mail flights into the sky. A century ago, from this stretch of grass you could witness flights at the then, Marina Air Field and Montgomery Field, a pioneering hub where daring aviators, experimental aircraft, and the first transcontinental air mail route helped rewrite what was possible in flight. Just next door at the Presidio’s Crissy Field, Army pilots pushed the limits of aviation with long-distance missions that paved the way for modern air travel.
LAUNCH INTENTION X SF
- When: Thursday May 28th // 5pm
- Location: Marina Green Triangle San Francisco, CA
- Partners: Building 180, SF Rec & Park
- Afters: Garden Party @ Campus on Chestnut // 7:30pm
Today, a giant paper airplane lands here in honor of that spirit of bold experimentation—inviting you to stand where history took off, set an intention of your own, and symbolically launch it over the Bay toward whatever comes next. Where San Francisco’s legacy of fearless innovation meets a new chapter of public art and wellness, Launch Intention turns the Marina Green into a living runway for dreams, ideas, and community conversation.
Come walk the grass, feel the wind, and add your voice to a new chapter in San Francisco's story—one intention at a time.
In partnership with Big Art Loop
CREDITS & THANK YOU'S
Thank you to the community, collaborators, and supporters who made this installation possible. Each contribution—whether through time, resources, or belief—helped transform an idea into something tangible and shared. This sculpture represents more than a single vision; it reflects a collective intention launched together. May it serve as a space to gather, reflect, and imagine what’s possible when ideas are given the opportunity to take flight.
