VIA
THE FOUNDATIONAL HOME FOR LAUNCH INTENTION FROM 2016 - 2020
VIA STUDIO VENICE BEACH, CALIFORNIA // 2016–2020
VIA Studio (Venice International Airport) in Venice Beach served as the foundational home for Launch Intention from 2016 to 2020. As the personal studio of artist Griffin Loop, the space functioned as both production site and active hub—where large-scale paper airplane sculptures were fabricated before being transported across the country for installation. At times, the works themselves would temporarily inhabit the studio in unexpected ways, including a 25-foot sculpture standing vertically, extending beyond the roofline of the building—blurring the boundary between workspace, installation, and environment.
Beyond production, VIA Studio became a living site of continuous engagement. The space naturally evolved into a platform for community interaction—hosting weekly gatherings, collaborative exhibitions, events, and speaker series alongside informal, everyday encounters with passersby. What began as a studio quickly transformed into an open invitation: a place where ideas were shared, intentions were expressed, and connections were formed. The energy of the space reflected the core of the project itself—bridging creation and participation, and reinforcing that the work extends beyond the sculpture into the experiences it generates.
Artist Note
This space held everything.
It was where the work was made—but just as importantly, it was where it was tested, shared, and lived with. The sculptures would pass through, sometimes taking over the entire space, shifting how it functioned day to day. Nothing felt fixed—and that was part of it.
People would come in for different reasons—some intentionally, some just passing by—but once they were there, something would happen. Conversations, ideas, collaborations. It wasn’t structured, but it was consistent.
Looking back, VIA wasn’t just a studio.
It was an early version of the platform.
A place where the line between making the work and engaging with it didn’t exist.
CREDITS & THANK YOU'S
Thank you to the community, collaborators, and supporters who made this installation possible. Each contribution—whether through time, resources, or belief—helped transform an idea into something tangible and shared. This sculpture represents more than a single vision; it reflects a collective intention launched together. May it serve as a space to gather, reflect, and imagine what’s possible when ideas are given the opportunity to take flight.
